Important news on our Walker & Felling branches

We have closed our Value Vets branches at Walker and Felling so we can offer clients a new, improved service at neighbouring surgeries in Howdon and Leam Lane, Gateshead.

For your convenience, clients at Felling will have their pet’s registration automatically transferred to Leam Lane, while Walker clients will have their pet’s registration switched to Howdon.

Both Leam Lane and Howdon provide professional, affordable and expert pet care from an experienced team of vets, nurses and receptionists.

You will be able to benefit from more regular consulting hours, and both Leam Lane and Howden are open six days a week, including Saturday mornings.

To make an appointment contact Leam Lane on 0191 495 2127 and Howdon on 0191 262 8432.

Microchip your dog and prevent prosecution!

Dog owners who have still not had their dog microchipped risk prosecution and a £500 fine.

Having your dog chipped can prevent a lifetime of heartache if your pet is lost or stolen.

Don’t get caught out – ring Value Vets on 0191 274 7910 for an appointment or ask at any of our surgeries.

Be extra vigilant with your pet

Value Vets would like to warn dog walkers to be extra vigilant after a family pet was bitten by an adder in County Durham.

Hooch was bitten by a snake at Derwent Reservoir while out walking with owners Karen Forster and Dean Lowden, pictured here, with Head Nurse Kay Sanderson, who helped to treat him.

He was taken to Value Vets in Consett, before being transferred to our 24-hour hospital in West Road, Newcastle.

Our quick-thinking staff sourced life-saving anti-venom to inject into him, and he is now recovering from his ordeal back home in Consett.

If your dog is bitten by an adder, our advice is don’t panic, but seek immediate veterinary help.

Life is sweet for Cadbury

LIFE is sweet for Cadbury after losing nearly two-stone in weight, thanks to guidance from Value Vets nurse Sarah Oxley.

Cadbury tipped the scales at 7stone as her family battled to keep her weight in check after she tore her cruciate ligaments in both hind legs.

After attending Sarah’s weight clinics at Value Vets in Consett, Cadbury is now a much healthier 5st 6lbs and has rediscovered her zest for life, with improved mobility.

Westway ran a three-month Weight Reduction and Mobility Campaign. All pets who signed up were assessed to find the animal with the biggest weight loss – and Cadbury has now won a year’s supply of Hill’s Prescription Diet pet food.

And owner Claire Holoway was so delighted – she presented Sarah with a boquet of flowers.
